We are surrounded by almond orchards for a reason. Almonds is the cash crop of the Central Valley and California as a whole produces about 80% of the world's almonds.

By the end of February the almond orchards of the Central Valley are in full bloom. It's an amazing time to walk the Delta-Mendota.

Rain showers and sunshine.
Along the Delta-Mendota.
Rows of almond trees.
Almond tree blossom.
Pollination station.
Spring rains.
Birds are swarming.
No trespassing.
Bridge repair.
Along the Delta-Mendota Canal.

An American pastime.
Bullet holes.
Spring is coming. Another early bloomer.
