Paradise Halibut
An adventure from the shores of Tiburon.
Story/Photos/Videos by Marc Owerfeldt

In order to make good on the Triple Crown Challenge I contracted the services of Jeremy Wade.

Unfortunately, Jeremy Wade wasn't available, but Matt Baron, who is just as good a fisherman, answered my call.

Matt showed me a great launch to access the waters on the eastern shore of Tiburon near Paradise which early in the season are productive halibut grounds.

We trolled herring for several hours and both of us hooked up once with very similar sized fish. Great trip all around and I hope to do it again, soon. Much appreciated, Matt!

My take for the day.
Back at the dock.
Matt's score.

Exquisite translucent meat.

One of the photos above shows Matt carefully releasing an undersized halibut. As he pointed out, there is a danger of tail rot if you net & release short halibut (I guess that means that Matt hooked up at least twice while I had one takedown for the day).

Fishgirl approves.
